During shunting operations in the Thorndon railway yards about 7.30 tonight William Oman, a married man with children, and residing in the railway settlement of Kaiwarra, had both his feet severed at the ankles by the wheels • of a wagon passing over them. Oman did not see the approaching wagon until it was almost upon him and he fell in endeavouring to jump clear. He was taken to the hospital. The unfortunate man arrived in Wellington from New Plymouth three or four months ago.
