OPTIMIST CLUB

CONFERENCE REPORTS The weekly meeting of the Auckland Optimist Club was held at the Y.M.C.A. yesterday, Optimist J. C. Rennie being in the chair. The proceedings throughout were of a particularly bright character, the speakers being dominion president R. A. Kenner, president Rev. Charles Chandler and optimist Vernon T. Drw, who told of the enthusiastic conference held at Wellington when 11 clubs AVere represented. The fact was emphasised that the conference consisted of young business and professionel' laymen and was essentially a laymen’s movement based on the objectives of business and professional integrity, a spirit of well-reajs-oned optimism and desire to find a solution to ciA’ic. commercial and moral problems and the fostering of the ideal and practice of service, both individual and corporate.
