NURSES’ RESIGNATION
PROTEST CAUSES INQUIRY OFFICIAL ACTION ENDORSED (Special to THE SUN) HAMILTON, To-day. As the result of a protest against their dismissal made by two nurses in the Waikato Hospital, a committee of the Waikato Hospital Board was appointed to hold an inquiry. At yesterday’s meeting of the board the committee advised that it had supported the dismissal. The protest was made by Nurses Madge Stronach and Mona Elliot against the action of the medical superintendent, Dr. M. M. Hockin, and the matron, Miss A. G. Keddie, in asking them to hand in their resignations from the staff. The committee of inquiry reported that they had heard evidence from Nurses Stronach and Elliot, Sister Pricker and Nurse Carter and had decided to support the action of the matron and superintendent. It placed on record its appreciation of the way in which Nurse Stronach had given her evidence. The board endorsed the action of the committee and decided to thank the two nurses for their services.
