WELL-KNOWN PACER DEAD

Word was received yesterday of the death at Ohaupo of the well-known pacer Anselm, recently owned and trained by Theo. Allen. Anselm, who was got by Nut Ansel from a mare of unknown breeding, was a good all-round performer and had a two-mile record of 4.31, while he has scampered over half that distane in 2.12. Four months ago Anselm showed a return to form at Hamilton by running a dcad-lieat with Uncle Bert in a mile dash, while recently at the Otahuhu fixture he dead-heated \vjf.h Stanmoor in the saddle race. The dead-heats evidently proved too strenuous.
