AUSTRALIA’S VICTORY
WARNER A BAD PROPHET COMMENT ON FINAL TEST (Australian and N.Z. IVt ->w Assoei i-ion > LONDO.X, Sunday. Discussing the defeat of England in the last test match at Melbourne. Mr. “Plum” Warner writes in the “Morning Post” :—“I can hear the kookaburra chuckling at my bad prophesying. Australia won a great victory, played better cricket, and thoroughly deserved her success. “Ever since the advent of the new generation she has gone from strength to strength. It is evident that the tight in 1930 will be a stern business. Australia may well be proud of her young men. particularly Jackson and Bradman, while it has discovered a higli-class bowler in Wall. A special word is due to Ryder, who faced the difficulties with calmness and dignity, and inspired the team with dignity splendid batting.” Mr. Clem PI ill says Australia deserved her victory. ' There had been some tremendously slow batting throughout, for which both sides had been equally guilty, limitless tests no doubt causing this calamity. “I have always advocated playing out the tests. Now I am in favour of five days in Australia and four in England, where the longer hours make up the difference.”
