WOMAN FOUND ON RAIL, BRUTALLY MURDERED

Press Association) LONDON, Sunday. | Scotland Yard is seeking a young i man, whose description is known, but i whose name is not, in connection with the discovery of the decapitated body of Mrs. Winifred East. The deceased, aged 28, was the wife of an auctioneer and valuer who lives at Wanstead, Essex. Her body was found on the railway line between Eltham (Woodwich) and Kidbrooke (Greenwich). Mrs. East was seen to enter a train at Barnhurst and a young man fol- ! lowed her. | Screams were heard from their I compartment. The man left the train ! at Kidbrooke, where he conversed with | a porter. EMPTY PURSE FOUND The police say they believe Mrs. East was the victim of a robbery. Her empty purse "was found on the railway line, A post-mortem examination revealed the fact that the woman had been brutally murdered. A blow on the back of her head had been inflicted with a heavy weapon. After that she fell head foremost I from the train on to q live rail and i was electrocuted. ' At the inquest the husband of deI ceased said they had been happily | married for three years. There were ino children. His wife always carried ! the Post Office Savings Bank book I which was found in the train and led | to her identification. ~~~
