MOB ATTACKS BRITISH FOOTBALLERS AFTER DEFEAT OF CHINESE

(Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 11 a.m. SHANGHAI, Sunday. There were stormy scenes at the conclusion of a football match, when the Wiltshire Regiment defeated the Chinese crack eleven. The mob attacked the referee and the players with bamboos, mud and stones. Several shots were fired, but no one was hit. Several British players were assaulted and injured. The Chinese players took no part. The personnel of the Chinese team was almost the same as that which toured Australia.
