EXPLOSIONS IN SYDNEY
HEAVY DAMAGE DONE POLICE MAKE AN ARREST (United r.A. — By Telegraph — Copyright) SYDNEY, Sunday. A severe explosion followed by a fire occurred in an unoccupied twostorey brick building at Vaueltise last night. It wrecked the main entrance and shattered the doors and windows and caused cracks in the walls. The firemen who subdued the flames found traces of petrol and kerosene in every room, suggesting incendiarism. An explosion at Bardsley’s garage at Penshurst yesterday caused a fire in which damage estimated at £IO,OOO was done. Five buses were destroyed, and £3OO was stolen from the drivers’ bags. Incendiarism is suspected as a rubber hose was seen to be connected to the petrol tank of a bus. The police later arrested David Moyes, aged 32, a mechanic, on a charge of arson in connection with the fire.
