PUMICE IN MID-OCEAN

TOFUA PASSES LONG TRAIL Floating pumice, stretching over the ocean, for miles, was encountered by the Tofua on her last trip. A passenger on the vessel to-day said that he thought it came from Falcon Island as the crater was almost level with the ocean and the pumice would easily be washed off. Other people are of opinion that the pumice comes from some gigantic submarine disturbance.
