BANKRUPT FATHER'S DEBTS CONTRACTOR REMANDED Booking: up goods in his son's name was responsible for the appearance of Frederick Thomas Aley in the Police Court this morning on three oharges of contracting debts while yet an undischarged bankrupt. Aley, a builder and contractor, of middle age. pleaded guilty, through Mr. J. J. Sullivan, to three charges relating to amounts of £4O. £lO5 and £6O. Mr. V. X. Hubble, who prosecuted, said that Aley had been adjudicated a bankrupt in 1925. having failed in his business as a builder and contractor. His liabilities were then £ SOO, and there was nothing for the creditors. •Aley started again in a. small way.’ continued. Mr. Hubble. “He obtained goods by giving his son’s initials.” The first time that had been done the son was aware of it, but there were further transactions without his knowledge. The son. had hied in July of last year, and the creditors then found that he was not the man with whom they had been dealing. In December, counsel added, the son’s bankruptcy had been annulled by the Supreme Court, as the debts were not really his liability. It was difficult to know what to do with the man, as there was no chance of his making restitution. Beniency was requested by Mr. Sullivan, who said that Aley had 10 children, six of whom were under the age of 16. The man was being employed by one of his creditors, who had given him a receipt in full for the amount owing. Counsel asked for probation. On the suggestion of the Probation officer, a remand was granted for a week. “It is usual in such charges as this to impose a short term of imprisonment,” commented Mr. E. C.
