MR. H. H. RICHARDSON FOR ENGLAND POPULAR SCHOOLMASTER On Friday Mr. H. H. Richardson will leave Auckland by the Maraina for Sydney en route to England, where he will live with his two sons. One of them. Or. IT. E. Richardson, is now attached to the Rothamstead Experimental Station in Hereford - shire, England, under Sir John Russell, who visited New Zealand some time ago. Mr. TI. H. Richardson had the reputation of being one of the most popu- ; lar schoolmasters in the Dominion, and | among his other postions he was headi master of the Feilding District High I School for seven years, and head of ; the Victoria Avenue School, Wanganui. For some time past Mr. Richardson I has been on the inspecting staff of the i Auckland Education Board, and rel cently he was met by his fellow in- | specters and presented with a cabin 1 trunk as a farewell gift. He has seen service for 40 years with the Educai tion Department, and carries with him to England the good wishes of hundreds of old boys who have at various times been in his care. Mr. Richardson is justly proud of his two brilliant sons. Dr. H. L. Richardson. the eldest son, went to England in 1924 on a Wembley Exhibition Scholarship after a brilliant scholastic career in New Zealand. Of him Sir John Russell, director of the Rothamstead Experimental Station said: "He did such good work for us during his firfet year that we felt we must have him on our permanent staff.” He is considered to be the legitimate j New Zealand successor to Sr Ernest i Rutherford. i The other son, Mr. G. NT. Rchard- [ son. is holder of an 1851 Exhibition Rei search Scholarship. Ho also had a brilj lant IT Uni versify career, and is at [ present studying at the London Uni- ' versity. He won the Sir George Grey . Scholarship in 1924 and 1925, in which | year he obtained his B.Sc. Later he | took his M.Sc. with first-class honours iin chemistry. He is at present doing : research work at the London Univer- | sity.
