STRIKERS’ PAY-DAY
£4,200 IS -HANDED OUT MEN ATTACK LORRIES Reed. 11 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. The timber strikers received £4,200 for strike relief pay yesterday. It was the fourth pay-day since the strike commenced, bringing the total of money paid out to £13,200. The Disputes Committee has £BOO in hand for next week.
A Melbourne message says two instances of interference with timberloaded vehicles occurred yesterday. In South Melbourne 100 men attacked a lorry with stones, but the driver pulled out a revolver and the men decamped. Another lorry at Burnley was stopped, and its load of timber strewn, over the roadway.
