APPEAL TO THE COURT £13,000 IN THREE YEARS (United P.A. —By Telegraph — Copyright) Received 9.5 a.m. MELBOURNE, To-day. The High Court is inquiring into the affairs of John Holt, the wellknown Caulfield horse trainer, who is appealing against his income tax assessment. It has been ascertained that £13,000 was won by Holt in three years, while counsel for the Crown told the Court that Holt’s fortune had increased £40,000 between the years 1914 and 191 S. Holt, however, did not think it was that much. He admitted that he won considerable sums in backing other men’s horses, not those he trained. Also, he was most successful at cards, chiefly poker, at which he won upwards of £4OO a year..
