DROVE HIS TYRES OFF
DRUNKEN MAORI FINED (From. Our Own, Correspoytdent) OPOTIKI, To-day. A Maori, Kure lluia, who drovo round a corner so fast yesterday that both the back tyres were torn off the car, appeared in the Police Court today charged with being found drunk int fc>t. 'John’s Street while in charge of a motor-car. Sergeant McAlister, who prosecuted, stated that yesterday afternoon Constable Breed found the accused in the car in a state of intoxication and took him to the police station. The car was not in motion at the time. Accused pleaded guilty and was lined £. 5 and costs, in default one month’s imprisonment. Mis driver’s licence was cancelled until -March, 1930.
