6,000.000 WEEKS’ WORK

CHANNEL TUNNEL SCHEME British Official Wireless , . RUGBY, Monday. Sir William Bull, M.P., the chairman of the Channel Tunnel Parliamentary Committee, has approached all the chambers of commerce, to find out whether they support or oppose the tunnel scheme. In another .letter, in which he asks all the trades councils and other Labour organisations for their attitude, Sir William lays stress on the great amount of employment that the scheme would mean. He estimates that the wages paid would be at the rate of £ 5 for one week’s work, so that if the cost wer,e £30,000,000 it would mean 6,000,0000 weeks’ work.
