HOMEWARD RUSH

RAILWAYS BUSY REVENUE FOR LAST WEEK The homeward rush on the railways set in in earnest to-day. Trains were almost as crowded as they were a few days before ChristThe Limited was a full train when she arrived Crom "Wellington this morning, but many of the passengers were from the Remuera, which arrived from England yesterday. Bookings were heavy for the week ended December 29, despite the fact that the pre-holiday demand was a record. From December 23 to December 29, 17,488 passengers booked seats and sleeping berths from Auckland. This represented £7,244 in revenue. Usually, when Christmas and New Year are over, there is a brisk fallingoff in railway revenue, but such is not the case this year.
