WOMAN NEARLY GASSED

STRANGE SYDNEY CRIME HOSE FROM THE METER SYDNEY, Thursday. A remarkable crime was reported bydetectives to-day' to have been perpetrated in a cottage in Arcadia Street, Coogee, occupied by Morris Levy, an insurance agent, hia wife and grownup daughter. Somebody attached a garden hose to the gas meter, then placed the other end of the 'hose through a window into the room where Miss Levy was sleeping. The fumes spread through the house and awakened Mr. Levy, about 3 a.m. He hurriedly opened every window, without striking a match, and called to his daughter, who was unharmed. The hose was not Mr. Levy’s property. A man’s footprint was discovered near Miss Levy’s window. Mr. Levy says he has not a solitary enemy and his daughter knows no reason why anyone should desire to take her life.
