JUNIOR REP. MATCH

INNINGS DEFEAT FOR WELLINGTON Auckland junior representatives had no difficulty in winning the one-day match against Wellington at Eden Park yesterday, defeating Wellington by an innings and one run. The game was chiefly remarkable for the collapse of the Wellington batsmen in the first innings. Auckland, winning the toss, decided to bat on a wicket, which, though it had been covered, was still soft with a sodden, dead outfield. The side hit up IG3 during the morning’s play. Only one man of the Wellington side got into double figures. Neal got 15 before he was bowled by Nolan and tho whole side only totalled 41. The Auckland bowlers responsible for this were Nolan, Cowie and Clarke. Clarke took three wickets for two runs and Nolan three for 17. Wellington followed on and were more successful. They made a fine effort to prevent the innings defeat, but, in spite of good batting by Neal, Morgan, Tindall and Du Chateau, the innings finished with the home team one run ahead.
