TROTTING IN WET WEATHER BIG RACE TO CRUSADER (Special to THE SUN) CARTERTON, Thursday. Wet weather again prevailed for the concluding day of the South Wairarapa Trotting Club’s summer meeting, but there was a good attendance to witness the fine sport provided. The totalisator returns showed a decrease on the two days, the figures being: 1927, £15,362; 1928, £12,396. An inquiry was held in connection with alleged interference in the last race on the first day. and R. K. Kearns, owner of Hardy Jack, was fined £3. Kearns was also severely cautioned for negligent driving and was recommended by the stipendiary steward to make himself conversant with the rules of trotting.
