HEARST PAYS OUT
DAMAGES FOR LIBEL A MURDER IN AMERICA (United Service) NEW YORK, Wednesday. A message from Jersey City says Mrs. Francis Hall and her brother, William Stevens, have discontinued their libel action against Mr. W. R. Hearst, upon payment by him of a handsome sum, for libelling them in connection with charges that they had murdered the Rev. Edward Wheeler and Miss Eleanor Mills, the choir leader in the church they attended. One of the Hearst newspapers had pursued them with extreme ferocity through a most sensational maze of evidence, but the jury acquitted them.
