SHEFFIELD SHIELD INNINGS A RECORD PARTNERSHIP R#cd. 11 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. In the Sheffield Shield match. South Australia v. Queensland, South Australia won outright by four wickets. In the first innings, South Australia scored 552 (McKay 87, Whitfield not out 55). Bowling for Queensland, Thurlow took three wickets for 116, Thompson three for 71, Brew two for 104. Queensland in the first innings made 296 (McCocmbe 51, Gough 95). Bowling for Sou:h Australia, Wall took five for 92. Williams three for 121. Queensland followed on, and in the second innings scored 416 (O'Connor 61, MeCoombe 112, Rowe 52, Nothling 46, Lister 45). Williams took five wickets for 145, and Wall two for S2. South Australia, in its second strike, has made 132 for six wickets (Pellew At Melbourne, playing against yic-
toria, New South Wales in its first innings made 426 (Kippax not out 260, Hooker 62). Ironmonger took three wickets for 95, Hendry three for 58, A’Beckett two for 92, Ebeling two for SI. The Kippax-Hooker partnership was responsible for 307 runs, a record in inter state cricket. Victoria, in its second innings, has made 251 for six wickets (A’Beckett 95, Hendry not out 65).
