Bowling Tourney Begins To-Day
SIX GREENS PLAYING KEEN CONTEST EXPECTED j Despite a light drizzle and the unsatisfactory condition of the various greens, a commencement with the Auckland Bowling Centre’s Christmas tournament was made this morning. Play was to have started yesterday, but under the conditions prevailing it was thought inadvisable to use the greens. 9 Although conditions were not a great deal better this morning it was decided at 10 o’clock to open the tournament in the hope that the weather would improve, as the day went on. Under the circumstances the greens were not conducive to good bowling, but with the satisfactory entries received keen competition should result. The headquarters for the tournament to-day are at Dominion Road green, where section A is being played. Other sections are being played as follow: Section B, Mount Eden; section C, Remuera; section D, Ponsonby; section E, Hillsboro; section F, Mount Albert.
