ROI L'OR AGAIN

WINS ASHBURTON CUP KOTUKU JACK MAKES AMENDS CLUB HOLDS SUCCESSFUL FIXTURE (Special to THE SUN) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. Dull weather was experienced for the Ashburton Trotting Club's summer fixture to-day, which was held on a good track and in the presence of a large attendance. Although favourites not prominent during the day, speculation was keen, the sum of £20,410 being handled on the machine, against £ 20,256 last Boxing Day. The sport provided was of a high order, and the same line contests were witnessed. Roi L'Or continued his successful run by annexing the Cup in easy fashion, an event for which he was well supported, although the dual Derby winner, Wrackler, was the actual favourite. Kotuku Jack, who recently showed a return to form by being in the money both days at New Brighton made amends by winning the Boxing Day Handicap from the brilliant Author Jinks, who put up a sterling performance.
