RECORD MAIL

ULIMAROA’S BIG CARGO LIGHT CONSIGNMENT ON AORANGI The Ulimaroa, which arrived from Sydney on Christmas morning, brought a record mail. Only a very small consignment was expected, but when the vessel arrived the postal officials were confronted by a total of 1,300 bags, 354 of which were for Auckland. The letter portion of the consignment was particularly heavy. Usually, with such a mail, there would have been about 50 bags of letters for Auckland, but this time there were 140. The Aorangi, due in Auckland on Sunday afternoon, is bringing 1.200 bags of mail for New Zealand. This is a comparatively small consignment for this vesesl. Three hundred of the bags are for Auckland.
