STILL CROWDED

OUTWARD AND INWARD TRAINS PROSPECTS OF RECORD YEAR Although Christmas is over the railway rush has not ceased. Traffic this year has been spread over a longer period and the volume has been well sustained. Every outward and inward train this morning was packed almost to capacity, contrary to expectations. Railway officials consider that this will be a record year, as there is every indication now of the traffic keeping its present standard for the next few weeks. The first express from Wellington this morning had to be divided before it could be brought into the station. The Limited was also a full train. The express for Whangarei left Auckland this morning a full train and 'extra carriages had to be put on at Mount Eden. The Taneatua express was also filled and the Rotorua express was crowded half an hour before she was due to leave. Two engines drew the train out of the station.

This evening both expresses for Wellington are almost booked out and extra Gars will be placed on the second train.
