MANNERS IN LIFTS
Sir. —
I read with great interest “Nancy N’s” letter in your issue of December 12, 1928. I have many occasions to travel in lifts, and it is very noticeable the casual manner of some of our young men, also using the same. When the ladies of more mature years are standing in a lift, these youths do not attempt to remove their hats, but the moment a young woman, or flapper, enters, they immediately remove the head covering. Why the obvious distinction? PUZZLED.
