“KICKED OUT”

DOUGLAS AND THE ESSEX CAPTAINCY DELICATE SITUATION (Australian and N.Z. Press Associationl Reed. 1.15 p.m. LONDON, Thursday. Cricket circles are interested in the future of J. W. H. T. Douglas, who states that he is unable to decide whether to continue to play for Essex. “The fact that I did not resign but was kicked out of the captaincy has created a delicate situation,” he said. He added that Essex had complained that he was getting too old or not pulling his weight. Douglas said with some emotion that it was a great wrench to part with old colleagues, many of whom he had seen grow from boys to mature cricketers. He hoped the team would be more loyal to Morris than some had been to him on and off the field.
