MAORIS SHY OF REGISTERED LETTERS MAGISTRATE’S NEW RULE (From Out • Own Correspondent) TE AW AM U TU, To-day. Referring to the ineffectiveness of postal summonses where Maoris are concerned, Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., stated at Te Awamutu yesterday that the natives are becoming very cunning. He said they will not call for or accept registered letters. He had found it necessary in the country districts to make a general rule requiring personal service upon Maoris, and he would make that practice apply in Te Awamutu.
