BRASS BAND DISBANDS
“STOPPED SHORT, NEVER TO GO AGAIN?” BOROUGH COUNCIL SURPRISED (From Our Own Correspondent) ROTORUA, Thursday. Like the grandfather’s clock in the old song, the Rotorua Brass Band has “stopped short.” Whether it will ever go again remains to be seen. At the meeting of the Rotorua Borough Council last evening, a letter was received from Mr. J. T. Dixon, secretary of the Rotorua Brass Band, intimating that owing to the resignation of some of the members the band had decided to disband. It was decided to reply expressing surprise at the brief notification that the band had gone out of existence, as the band had been subsidised to the extent of £52, on the understanding that it would give 20 concerts during the coming season. The secretary was asked to return the instruments belonging to the council.
