POLICE LEAD TOWNSMEN IN FIGHTING FLAMES
Reed. 11 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. A Werris Creek message states that two premises were gutted by fire and several other shops were badly damaged. Volunteers under the direction of the police fought the flames with axes, buckets, etc., and checked .the blaze spreading. The damage is £IO,OOO.
