SPECIAL STEAMER SERVICE UNION COMPANY’S ARRANGEMENTS The Union Steam Ship Company has made special steamer arrangements for the holidays. The company announces that in addition to the usual sailings in the Wellington-Lyttelton service at Christmas time, the Wahine will make a daylight trip from Wellington at 8.15 a.m. on Sunday, December 23, and the Maori at the same time next day. Intending passengers for the South Island are recommended to travel by these trips, which will give a good opportunity of seeing the great peaks of the Kaikouras In their best aspect from the sea. The vessels arc due at Lyttelton about 5.30 in the afternoon, enabling passengers to connect with night trains for the South. In the Wellington-Picton service the Tamahine will continue to run the usual three trips a week, leaving Wellington on Mondays. Wednesdays and Fridays at 3 p.m. From December 14 for the rest of the summer season she will return again from Picton on Fridays and make an extra trip from Wellington on Saturdays, leaving at 1.15 p.m. and arriving back from Picton on Sunday evening. For passengers going across from Wellington on Friday or Saturday and back the. following day, a reduced return week-end fare is to be charged. Christmas and New Year sailings of the Tamahine from Wellington to Picton. in lieu of the ordinary timetable, Mill be: —Monday, December 24, noon and 3 0 p.m.: Thursday, December 27. 1.15 p.m.; Friday, December 28, 3 p.m.; Saturday, December 29, 1.15 p.m.: Monday, December 31, 1.15 p.m.; Tuesday, January 1, 8 a.m. Excursions from Wellington to Picton will be made on Wednesday, December 26, and Wednesday, January 2, by the Wahine, leaving Wellington at S a.m. and arriving back from Picton about 5.30 p.m.
