“GIVE ME A CHANCE”

LABOURER WITH 80 CONVICTIONS GAOLED FOR THEFT As Thomas Henry Massicks had already appeared before the Police Court 70 or 80 times, his appeal for a chance met with scant consideration this morning. Massicks pleaded guilty to the theft of 12 pairs of braces, valued at 6s. According to Sub-Inspector McCarthy, Massicks had taken the braces from the doorway of a- city pawnshop. He had been seen taking the goods and a constable was told. “Massicks has not been out of gaol long,” said Mr. McCarthy. "He has been drinking heavily.” Massicks: Will you give me a chance if I take out a prohibition' order? Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.: No, you have been here 70 or 80 times already. A term of one month’s imprisonment was imposed.
