TRADE DIRECTOR DEAD

LATE MR. R. W. MATTHEWS Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner at Wellington has received cabled advice of the death on November 8, after a short illness, of Mr. R. W. Matthew, C.M.G., Chevalier of the Legion of Honour, and Director of the Empire Trades and Economic Divisions of the Department of Overseas Trade, London. Mr. Matthew was born in 1879. He entered the War Office in 1903, being transferred a year later to the Board of Trade; and in 1917 he joined the Department of Overseas Trade.
