WAIHI ROSE SHOW
The King’s Hall, Waihi, was a blaze of colour on Thursday when the Mayor, Mr. W. M. Wallnut, opened the annual .rose show held under the auspices of St. James’s Presbyterian Church. There were large entries in all sections, and many choice blooms were on view. In the produce, cake and sweet sections the entries were also numerous. The following is the list of prizewinners:— Six best blooms: Miss Dabinett, 1: Mrs. Say, 2. Three best roses: Mrs. White, 1; Mr. A. H. Clarke, 2. Single bloom: Mrs. Currie, 1; Miss Speak, 2. Decorated table; Mrs. Cornthwaite, 1; Mrs. Cummins, 2. Decorated bowl: Mrs. Baker, 1; ■Mrs. A. H. Clark, 2; Mrs. Copestake, 3. Artificial flowers: Mrs. Tanner, 1; Mrs. Morgan, 2. Artificial flowers (children’s section): Freda Clark, 1; Selena Dabinett, 2. Produce.—Hen eggs: Mrs. Rollett, 3: Mr. G. E. Armour, 2. Duck eggs: Mrs. Sleep. 1; Airs. McCall, 2. Unsalted butter: Mrs. Debenham, 1; Mrs. McCall. 2. Salted butter: Airs. Say, 3; Mrs. AlcCall, 2. Jar of cream: Mrs. Cornthwaite, 1; Airs. Cochrane, 2. Aladeira cake: Mrs. Bell, 3; Airs. Bell, 2.
