BARBER GETS DECISION GRIFFITHS DOWN TWICE Press Association. DUNEDIN. Sunday. At the Drill Hall last night, before an attendance of about I.SOO. Tommy Barber (Sst 1311 b) was given the decision on points in a 15-round boxing contest with Tommy Griffiths (Sst llilb). Barber finished very strongly and in the final round put Griffiths down twice, on the first occasion for nine seconds. The decision met with a mixed reception. BOXING IN TARANAKI Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Sunday. The Taranaki amateur boxing Championships were decided at Stratford last night. The champions are:—Fly-weight, V. Spavin (Hawera); bantam, X. Roebuck (New Plymouth); feather-weight, T. Donovan (Waitara); light-weight, T. Donovan: middle-weight, L. Dombroski (Waitara): welter-weight, L. Dombroski; light-heavy-weight, A. Goodwin (Okato): heavy-weight, L. O’Keefe (Midhurst). The following will represent Taranaki at. the New eZaland championships at Auckland:—Donovan, Roebuck, Dombroski and Goodwin.
