(Front Our Own Correspondent.) Miss Frances Peacocke left last evening for Napier. Mrs. F. Dempsey, of Gisborne, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs. A. Paterson, of Claudciands. BRIDE’S PARTY Miss Lorna Button, who is shortly' to be married, was the guest of honour at a kitchen evening organised by her friends at Taupiri last Saturday. In addition to the many' useful kitchen presents given by her friends, Miss Button received a fine dining room clock, as a gift from the church members, a fruit stand from the Young People’s Bible Class, and from the Girls’ Hockey Club a handsome fern bowl. SURPRISE PARTY A number of friends of Miss K. Oliver and Mr. lan Oliver took a surprise party to their home, “Wartto,” in Matangi on Thursday. The dance room was bright with many coloured streamers, balloons and lanterns. Dancing and ping-pong Avas enjoyed. Those presen t were: Miss Kath. Oliver, in primrose georgette and lace. Miss F. BAND BALL IN CAMBRIDGE On Thursday the Cambridge Municipal Band held a most successful ball. The decorations were carried out in gold. The music was supplied by Cook’s Premier Orchestra.
