MT. ALBERT BAPTISTS
CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOUR SOCIETY A special gathering of the Mount Albert Christian Endeavour Society was held on Saturday night when the pledge of the society received special consideration. The president of the Christian Endeavour Union, the Rev. A. S. Wilson, was present and spoke, as also did Mr. H. B. Bristow, an ex-president of the union. Mr. Bristow’s subject was “The Reasonableness of the Pledge” and Mr. Wilson’s “The Vitality of the Pledge.” In the course of his remarks, Mr. Wilson said the tendency of modern church life was one of drift and inconstancy. When they looked around for the ironsider who would resist disloyalty and neglect oY the local church the eye fell upon the Christian Endeavour ranks. These .made for the support of the local church in every way, especially in regularity of work and worship. While other young people’s societies asked the church “What can you do for us?” the Christian Endeavour Society asked “What can we do for the church?” The Rev. J. Laird and church officers Penman. Randal and Morgan also spoke. Mr. lan Lilly, who presided, warmly thanked the visitors. The gathering was composed of a fine group of young men and women in equal numbers.
