“OF ONE MIND”

LESSON-SERMON ON LOVE The subject of the lesson-sermon in tho Christian Science Church yesterday was “Love,” the golden text being taken from 1 John IV., 16: “We have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” Among th© citations comprising the lesson-sermon was the following from the Bible: “If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory, but in loveliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.” (Phillipians, 11., 1,2, 3.) The following passage from the Christian Science text-book was also included in the lesson-sermon: “Selflove is more opaque than a solid body. In patient obedience to a patient God, let us labour to dissolve with the universal solvent of Love the adamant of error, self-will, self-justification, self-love—which wars against spirituality and is the law of sin and death.” (“Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 242.)
