WATER FOR NORTH SHORE
MAJOR SCHEME CONSIDERED LETTER TO CITY COUNCIL Saying that it does not at present see its way clear to announce its policy in regard to drawing on the city’s existing water resources, the North Shore Water Board decided yesterday afternoon to write to the Auckland City Council. This is in answer to a request from the council for the board’s intention regarding a supply fo.r North Shore boroughs. Mr. E. Aldridge, chairman, said the board must have a major scheme for the North Shore within five years. Recently, local body representatives | considered a supply from Arapuni, and , it seemed feasible. The cost of a i supply from Waitakare was known, j but that from Arapuni was not. The supply at Lake Pupuke would last ; three years at least, but in the mean--4 time any scheme would be considered.
