PLANE UP 21,000 FEET ENGLISHMAN AND WIFE (United P.A. —By Telegraph-—Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) Reed. 11.30 a.m. ‘ LONDON, Wed. Captain G. De Haviland, with his wife, broke the world’s altitude record is a two-seater light plane. Using a standard Moth, he attained 21,000 feet in 70 minutes. The temperature at 20,000 feet was 27 degrees below freezing point. The previous record of 18,700 feet was established by Germans in October, 1927.
