BACK TO THEATRE

From ; . s* »-> i.i v’s Late Kdhjrui

CONGREGATIONAL CHORCH SUNDAY EVENING SERVICES Next Sunday evening th© Beresford Street Congregational Church will begin a series of services in the Prince Edward Theatre, Karangahape Road. As the theatre will seat 1,500 people, and is quite close to the church, the officers decided to transfer the Sunday evening services there this winter, instead of moving to Queen Street as in former years. The move is necessary to find room for the overflowing congregations which cannot be accommodated in their own building. There will be community hymnsinging, led by the Beresford Street Choir, under the conduetorship of Mr. William Gemmell, with Mr. Jack Hodd as pianist, and special music will be given. The Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher will preach the first sermon of a series, next Sunday, on the life of “A Robber Chief.” By remaining in their own district, the church workers are hoping that many non-churchgoers will be attracted to the theatre services, and steps are being taken to invite everyone living in that portion of the city to attend.
