(From Our Own Correspondetit) HAMILTON. Friday. Mrs. J. Kerr, of Thames, is at present visiting Hamilton. * * * Mr. and Mrs. W. Mair, of Lower Hutt, are the guests of Mrs. Den^. * * * Mrs. Norman Collins motored to Hamilton yesterday from Auckland. * * * Mrs. G. Jackson, of Ngaruawahia, is in Auckland this week visiting her daughters. * * * Mrs. Mills, of Ngaruawahia, has gone to Hawke’s Bay for a holiday. BRIDGE PARTY Last evening Mrs. L. Furze gave a bridge party in the lounge-room of the Lyceum Club. The room looked very attractive with its big log fire and heaters, its autumn leaves and early bulbs. Mrs. Furze was wearing a smart frock of black georgette and silver. There were present: Mrs. W. Ranstead, Mrs. S. J. Bennett, Mrs. G. Hyde, Mrs. A. Coventry, Mrs. H. J. Green - slade, Mrs. J. Chitty, Mrs. H J McMullin, Mrs. T. Milroy, Mrs. Hobbins. Mrs. E. Gresham, Mrs. L. Shepherd. Mrs. Oswald Smith, Mrs. J. Prenton, Mrs. Mackay, Mrs. J. Gray. Mrs. F. Jolly, Mrs. Speedy, Mrs. T. McMullin, • Good, P. Harkness, Hart, and S. Liv- '■ ingstone. MOTHERS’ UNION At the St. George branch of the Mothers’ Union yesterday there were j present visiting members from Te Pahu, Huntly. Cambridge, St. Peters’s, and Claudelands. At the church service that preceded the meeting bis Lordship Bishop Cherrington addressed those present. He spoke eloquently of the great good done by the movement throughout the world, and expressed his pleasure at the progress i made in local branches. Mrs. Beeche, president of the St. George’s Branch, welcomed the visitors and introduced them to Mrs. Ferner. from Auckland, who gave a very interesting and instructive talk on child welfare. In her speech she introduced the subject of open air schools, which aroused much interest among her hearers. At the conclusion of her address Mrs. Ferner was presented with a beautiful bunch of violets and warmly thanked for coming to visit Frankton. FRANKTON CROQUET CLUB Last Saturday Mrs. Higgins, presij dent of the Frankton Croquet Club. | entertained the members to a very j pleasant afternoon tea. A delightful ! musical programme had been arranged, ! the performers being Miss Higgins, Miss Pearce and Miss Culley. Later ! the prizes that had been won during | the season were presented. The Furze Cup, won by the Frankj ton Club, was held by Mrs. Bartleei, the club champion, for the year. Thf other successful members were: Handicap Singles, Mrs. Dillicar; A am: B Doubles. Mrs. Wlgzel and Mrs. Andrews: B Champion, Mrs. Andrews: C * Champion, Mrs. Brough.
