On Monday last the Mahinepouri hall tvas gaily decorated with palms, streamers, and gay lights for a most enjoyable sports dance. The bright colouring was sustained in the supper room, which was ablaze with scarlet salvias. Among those present were Mesdames Neil Reid, E. Ryburn, T. Allen, G. A. Mills, T. MeAllum, R. Meyer, Hopping, Wright, R. Gillard, J. McGregor, J. McPherson, H. Stokes, Nottingham, the Misses D. Reid, L. Teddy, H. Ryburn, J. Clark, V. Teddy, L. Macky, 33. Short, ,T. Sutton, Corson, Jones, G. Reid, 13. Brett. L. Hepburn. T. Dodds, McAuliffe, R. Carson, Bell, McCleavan, E. Shortt, 1. Ravnes, F. Reid, D. Vowless, A. Macky, M. Roley, M. Stringer, /V. Auliss, D. Stephens (Auckland), and N. Edwards. CARDS AND DANCING CHURCH GAIETIES There was a large attendance of members and friends of St. Joseph’s Church, Otahuhu, at the social and dance held in the Otahuhu public hall on Monday evening. The proceeds were in aid of the Catholic church, and a very enjoyable evening was spent. The music was supplied by Mr. Ciarke, and the duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr. O’Connell. Monte Carlo and spot waltzes added to the gaiety. Mr. Dromgoal was in charge of the euchre tournament, and- some keen and interesting games were contested. The following were the prizewinners: Mrs. Baxter 1, Mrs. Allenson 2, Miss Adams consolation; Mr. MeGinty 1, Mr. E. Winters 2, Mr. Miller consolation. The aggregate points prize went to Miss D. Elliott and Mr. Roach, and a special prize for the committee was awarded to Miss E. Kelly.
