LECKIE DEFEATS CARROLL Press Association . NAPIER, Wednesday. In a professional boxing contest this evening Johnnie Leckie, Dunedin, 8.2, defeated Mark Carroll, Wanganui, 9.1, in the fifth round of a 10-round bout, Carroll’s second throwing in the towel. Carroll was no match for the champion. In the second 10-round bout Tommy Griffiths, Dunedin, 8.7, outpointed F. Taylor, Auckland, 8.3, in a clean, walling fight.
