STRAND
“THE MUSIC MASTER” “The Music Master,” which will open at the {Strand Theatre to-morrow, is a revival of the old stage play which scored such a tremendous success 20 years ago. Skilfully adapted to the screen by the Fox director, Allan Dwan, there is every reason to believe that it will be even more popular than it was in its original form. The story is of a lovable musician who left a brilliant career in Vienna to search 3 9 years for his wife, who left his home with another man, taking with her his baby daughter. The two big dramatic scenes are when he finds the daughter, and later when he comes face to face with the man who had betrayed him. But the chief charm of the story lies in the delicate charm of the characterisation. Alec Francis, in the title role, does the best work of his career, portraying the lonely old musician with great sympathy and feeling. Lois Moran brings to the role of the daughter that subtle spiritual quality which, combined with her youth and beauty, has made her one of the most promising of the young screen stars. Neil Hamilton is cast as her fiancee, and the rest of the cast includes such capable players as Norman Trevor, Kathleen Kerrigan, Charles Lane and Marcia Harris. An Our Gang comedy, “High Society,” the interesting Strand Magazine, a *Fox News and a Fox Variety Film and an Aesop Fable compose the supporting programme. A bright musical programme will be rendered by Eve Bentley and her Strand Symphony Orchestra, who will specially feature as a musical interlude ‘•Rose Marie.”
