LIFE-SAVING SOCIETY
REVIVAL OF INTEREST The importance of reviving interest in the life-saving branch of swimming was stressed by Dr. T. H. Pettit at the annual meeting of the Waitemata Amateur Swimming Club last night. Dr. Pettit referred to the old branch of the Royal Life Saving Society. This had been allowed to die out, with the .result that Auckland was the only centre without a branch. A meeting was held about a month ago and the Auckland branch of the society had sprung into life again, but to- be kept going it required the support of every swimmer and of every club. There were a great many school children alreacl3 r qualified to receive certificates and awards for llfe-shving. As there was no headquarters these could not be granted. It was decided to affiliate with the society. The delegates appointed by the club were Miss E. Tilsley and Mr. A. Clark.
