A NYONE who thinks that illness is the enemy of appetite should look over these figures, which disclose the year’s allowance for the 1,300 patients and members of staff in the Auckland Hospital and Infirmary:—Meat, 240,7001 b.; butter, 45,7501 b.; fish, 90,6401 b.; milk, 66,G00 gallons; eggs, 19,760 dozen; bread, 145,120 loaves. The figures for each institution in the above ordler and with the infirmary totals in parentheses, are as follows:—126,100 (114 600); 28,500 (17,250); 72,400 (18,240); 43,700 (22,300); 13,160 (6,600); 90,800 (54,320).
