Acceptances for Wellington
THREE CUP HORSES RETIRE DERBY CANDIDATES TO RACE The acceptances received for the Spring Meeting of the Wellington Club, which takes places on Saturday. September 17, are sufficient to warrant interesting racing. The fields in the principal events will not suffer from overcrowding and will furnish good contests. Of New Zealand Cup candidates originally engaged in the Cup Trial, Audacious, Man o’ War and Ahuriri have forfeited their engagements. The most notable defections in the Bollard Handicap are Gold Jacket, First Water, Trimmer, Logan Park and Ahuriri. The Auckland Great Northern candidate, Bonniewah, and her stable companion Great Eyre are among the acceptors. Other Derby candidates in Vestas and Daphne de Ora still stand their ground.
