40 YEARS IN PARNELL
LATE MR. T. FORDYCE Mr. Thomas Fordye, who died at his residence, Trafalgar Street, Onehunga, on Friday, at tlie age of S 6, was a native of the Shetland Islands. Coming to New Zealand in 1861, Mr. Fordyce worked on the goldfields at Otago and Thames, afterwards serving in the Maori wars. Later he was in business at Thames, subsequently coming to Auckland and opening a grocery shop at Parnell, in which suburb he lived for over 40 years. Mr. and Mrs. Fordyce celebrated their diamond wedding in 1923. Mrs. Fordyce survives her husband. There are 10 children, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The funeral took place at Hillsborough cemetery yesterday, when Archdeacon G. Mac Murray, a personal friend of Mr. Fordyce, conducted the burial service.
