PANMURE TOWN BOARD
BUILDING BY-LAWS NEEDED WHARF’S DANGEROUS STATE The annual meeting of the Panmure Town Board was held last evening, the chairman, Mr. W. G. Brown, presiding. The valuation of the district had been increased from £47,925 in 1925 to £53,116 in the past year. Seven new houses, a shop and a motor garage had been erected. Electric lighting and power had been reticulated, but street lighting was regarded as too expensive at present. Complaints had been made regarding the dangerous condition of the Panmure wharf. The board had been advised to pull the wharf down. The domain was undergoing improvements and a donation toward the work was acknowledged. # . A ratepayer expressed the opinion that unless building by-laws were made, Panmure would shortly become a dumping-ground for cheaply-built residences. The chairman said the cost of making by-laws and enforcing them had proved prohibitive. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring chairman, who had served on the board for 17 years. Messrs. C. Fleming, P. Malone, C. Gatward and G. Turton have been nominated for the three; vacant seats, and the election will be held on Monday.
